The Coterie – A Swing To Folk

The Coterie were a ittle known but excellent melodic folk pop / light psych quartet from Drimnagh on Dublin's southside, where three of the band members lived on Mourne Road. They were Margaret Maguire, Kathleen Maguire, Jacqueline McDarby and Catherine Donnelly. Margaret and Kathleen were not related. This is their sole album which was released on Emerald Gem in 1969. It features all four girls singing in harmony accompanied by acoustic guitars with a perfect late 60s hippy feel. It's all covers apart from two trad.arr tracks, including The Beatles "If I Fell", Phil Ochs and Leonard Cohen. The arrangements are uniformly strong.

The album is on Emerald Gem Records, GES 1026. Matrix side one: ZML-1127-1L (stamped). Matrix side two: ZML-1128-1L (stamped).
Released in 1969. UK pressing. Stereo.

Condition: (as Record Collector's grading system)
Vinyl side 1: excellent (has one or two very light superficial marks that do not affect the audio in any way, plays great with no jumps, sticks or clicks and minimal crackle).
Vinyl side 2: excellent (has one or two very light superficial marks that do not affect the audio in any way, plays great with no jumps, sticks or clicks and minimal crackle).
Cover (front laminated): excellent (a few small creases mainly around the edges, small bit of laminate lift front top at spine edge, very light aging on back).
I have tried to give my honest opinion as to the condition. I will give a complete refund to the buyer, on its return, if they are not happy with the record.

RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM:
MINT: I very rarely use the mint grade. Only records that are still sealed or records that even under the strongest of lights are completely unmarked. Also covers that are unmarked/uncreased in any way and still look brand new.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is no lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
