THE COUNT BASIE STORY Rare 1950's Jazz Music Show on Two AFRTS 16" Radio Transcription Discs

"Count" Basie (August 21, 1904 – April 26, 1984) was an American jazz pianist, organist, bandleader, and composer. Basie led his Jazz orchestra almost continuously for nearly 50 years. Many notable musicians came to prominence under his direction, including tenor saxophonists Lester Young and Herschel Evans, guitarist Freddie Green, trumpeters Buck Clayton and Harry "Sweets" Edison and singers Jimmy Rushing and Joe Williams. 


This one hour 1950'S Armed Forces radio show tells the complete story of this amazing Jazz musician through rare early recordings. The show is hosted and narrated by noted Jazz Historian and Record Collector Andy Mansfield and was part of the AFRTS radio series called "America's Popular Music". This is show number 237 in the series. 

These two 16" Radio Transcriptions are in Excellent condition with no visible scuffs or scratches. These discs sound great and are still very glossy. They are not warped or chipped and play fine. Each Radio Transcription disc has two 30 minute radio shows, so you get a total of 2 hours of great entertainment from the Golden Age of Radio. The pictures supplied are of the labels of discs being offered.
