The Cramps - Garbageman/ TV Set 

(Illegal Records ILS 8401 French 7" Single 1980)

 

This is a 1980 Picture Sleeve 7" Single 1st pressing. Manufactured in France. This release was unique to France. The Picture Sleeve is side opening. It is printed on thick matte card. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has silver plastic "Illegal" labels. These have a large centre hole. The record has 1st press ILS 8401 A and ILS 8401 B matrix numbers.

A classic early 1980's Psychobilly/ Punk UK 7" Single. As stated, this single was only released in France. It did not sell particularly well at the time. Therefore, original pressings are extremely difficult to find. I have some other rare & collectable 1970's, early 1980's Punk, New Wave and Post-Punk UK Original 7" Singles & LP's for sale. This includes several other The Cramps 7" Singles & LP's. Sleeve: There is some light, mild, very mild or very minor hairline rubbing wear to the spine & top edge on a few areas. There is light or very minor rubbing wear on the bottom edge on a few areas. There is some light, very mild or very minor rubbing wear on the rear sleeve on a few areas. There is light, mild or very mild rubbing wear to the corner tips. There is some light, mild, very mild or very minor ringwear on a few areas. There are no seam splits. Overall, Very Good++ condition.

Vinyl: There is a mild 1.5 cm hairline surface mark at the start of the A-side. There are some light, mild, very mild or very minor sleeve rubs which can only be seen under a strong light. There are a couple of very small areas of more moderate surface sleeve rubs, or surface rub marks, which, also, can only be seen under a strong light. The picture sleeve, over time, has left some light, very mild or very minor dull surface marks on some areas. These, again, can only be seen under a strong light. Overall, Very Good+ condition. Not too far from being in Near Excellent condition. The labels are in Near Mint condition and show next to no wear.

I have play tested this single in its entirety & it plays Near Excellent to Excellent overall, & Excellent+ in some places. There is some light, very mild or very minor crackle in a very few quieter places. There are a very few light, mild or very mild intermittent clicks at the start of the A-side. These do not last long & are very much in the background. There are no clicks or pops on the B-side. Overall, a great audio copy!

I shall place the vinyl into a separate plain paper sleeve. This will protect the original picture sleeve from any damage during the shipping process.

  >>  Grading Information All grading is very strict & adheres to 'Record Collector' specifications. However, I have fine tuned them & they are explained below. All vinyl is examined closely under a strong light & play tested.

MINT Condition = A perfect copy! Almost impossible to find like this. 

NEAR MINT Condition = Very nearly mint just slightly under, There may be a very few, very light paper surface sleeve rubs that can hardly be seen under strong light. This disc has been played a couple of times at most. The sleeve is virtually perfect - there is very minimal wear only.

EXCELLENT Condition = A clean & tidy copy that shows minimal defects. There will be light, very mild or very minor surface sleeve rubs. There will be no scratches. The cover will be very nice & clean with maybe minimal creasing, ringwear or edge rubbing wear etc...

NEAR EXCELLENT Condition = You can tell this record has been played a few times, but it has been well cared for. There will be minor surface marks only. The sleeve may have light, mild or very mild creasing,ringwear & very mild rubbing wear to the edges etc.... Overall, it will be a very serviceable copy that you will be pleased with.

Very Good Condition = A well played but very decent overall copy. There will be a few marks on the vinyl, but they won't be nasty scratches, just relatively light needle scuffs and sleeve removal marks, they will be noticeable but won't detract from play too much. Cover will show signs of storage/ ageing, e.g., creasing, slight folding, spinewear, ringwear or sticker tears etc... The record will not be trashed!!

Please note that I also use "+" or "-" symbols for this grading. A plus symbol is obviously at the top end of "Very Good" & is really not far from being in "near excellent" condition. The minus symbol obviously means it is at the lower end. This will mean that it is near to being in "Good+" condition.

Royal Mail have very recently increased their postage rates. So I have revised my postage costs to reflect their increases. (Please note that these prices include packaging costs too) 
Double LPs are classed as two LPs. Also posters, inserts, etc.. can increase postage costs.

All records will be sent in high quality vinyl mailers with at least two card stiffeners either side of the LP or 7" Single. I use a cruciform box for larger orders (3-6 LPs). All parcels will be marked "Fragile" and dispatch time will generally be between 1-3 days after payment.

I will also remove the vinyl from the sleeve & place them in a re-sealable polythene sleeve. In order to prevent seam splits. Depending on the inner sleeve; I often remove the vinyl from the inner sleeve & place it in a separate plain paper, or polythene-lined, plain inner sleeve. I am very conscientious and careful when packaging your LP(s).

I consider my postage & packaging costs to be very transparent & very fair. Packaging costs will generally be between £0.80 to £1.50. I am not adding any further costs for handling, etc...
