Description
Up for auction is a super rare copy of The Cure's debut U.S. album "Boy's Don't Cry" originally released in the U.S. on PVC Records (PVC 7916) in 1980.
-Guaranteed original First Pressing -STERLING mastering stamped in run-out matrix -Original PVC blue & white labels -1979 Date printed on labels -No UPC/bar code on cover -Record comes in audiophile poly-lined inner sleeve
Note: This record was originally released in the U.S. in 1980 for the U.S. market. It was not released in the U.K. until 1983, thus making this U.S. copy the true first pressing. Also, later PVC reissues had the "PVCC" catalog preface.
Condition: The cover is in very nice condition with only minor signs of wear. Front still has its original gloss shine, no ring wear, no losses. Just a couple very light creases on top and side edges. Corners are sharp, not bumped, but they do show some mild rubbing loss. Back is nice and clean, with just a hint of rubbing at top center. Seams are strong, intact, no splits. A very well-preserved copy. Grade: Excellent (EX), better than typical VG+ copies.
The vinyl is also in very nice condition, retains its original shine and luster. No obvious or serious scratches or scuffs to the naked eye, but under intense light, it shows some very light superficial hairlines from having been taking out of the paper inner sleeve a few times--and some handling. Nothing that affects the quality of the playback. Labels are clean, no marks around spindle holes, indicating little previous play. I've owned this record for the last 35 years, played it once, then archived it. Very well-preserved.
Play-Tested: The sound quality is very nice, just a hint of surface noise on the run-in groove that fades out once the music starts, can't be noticed really. Not audiophile perfect, but none of these originals are. Grade: Excellent (EX).
