The Damned : Damned Damned Damned A1 / B1 2nd Press 1977
This classic debut album plays to an incredible standard and there is no interference, no background at all. No statics or ticks and clearly no clicks or pops. The audio is so clean - for such a loud, powerful album the audio definition is stunning and there is no distortion. The clarity and 'separation' cannot be faulted, this is a stunning listen, and easily qualifies as a FINAL UPGRADE archive pressing.
The fully laminated cover is in lovely condition with minimal wear and the die-cut black inner is in superb shape also. Obviously this pressing has the correct photo on the back.
This 1977 pressing has a fully laminated cover with the Island logo on the back. It has 'Made and Printed by Press & Post Ltd' on the spine and of course the A1 / B1 matrix and the etchings on the run outs as below.

Visual description
The vinyl is in great condition and still has a strong glossy look with no obvious marks or scratches. I can only see a handful of faint hairlines and some very faint 'specks' (mainly on S2) but they are only visible when you hold the vinyl at a certain angle under a bright light. They really are very faint and totally superficial as they have no impact on the incredible audio. Under 'normal' light the vinyl is pristine! There is no groove or surface wear and the Stiff labels are unmarked with barely any spindle wear.
Play Grading
The bass intro on 'Neat Neat Neat' plays perfectly as does James' guitar section. The opening vocal is just as strong and clear and it continues in the same precise way. The mid instrumental is superb, Sensible's bass is so deep and from start to finish the power of the audio is immense! There is no distortion and Mint is very much deserved.
'Fan Club' plays to the same standard with no intrusion at all. Once again the power and depth of the audio is 'high end' I just cannot fault it. There is just one minor static on the fade out so I will grade as Mint- but for a near 50 year old record it is playing with stunning quality so far. There is one click in the dead wax between tracks, best to point that out.
'I Fall' plays with immense power and 'loudness' throughout! Again there is no distortion, no interference and sonically it is as strong as it ever was. Stunning! Mint
The intro on 'Born To Kill' is flawless and the opening vocal section is equal to that. From then on it plays with sublime power and with nothing to detract from the audio. Perhaps a 9.5/10 on the clarity scale but... no background. Just not quite as clear as the preceding tracks if I'm being ultra critical. Scabies on frenetic drums as usual! Mint-
The brief 'Stab Your Back' plays with real power and again there is no background. No need to elaborate. Mint
The quieter 'Feel The Pain' ends the side with genuine quality once more. The raw sound is still very much in evidence and there is zero interference. For a final track the audio is very clean and the high octane end section is stunning. The quiet fade out has only a couple of barely audible statics. Mint-
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The percussive intro and then James' first contribution on the classic 'New Rose' play with stunning clarity and power and it continues to 'rock out'! The audio definition is so impressive and there are no ticks, clicks or pops. It's a superb version - another high octane finish and the sonic quality is phenomenal, Scabies really coming into his own. Great production on this track and Mint- is richly deserved.
'Fish' plays with genuine precision through every section. James again showing what an accomplished guitarist he was. Mint
'See Her Tonite' keeps up the standard and plays with impeccable power and depth. Once again there is no intrusion on the audio and you can turn it up to max without fear of distortion. I don't want to keep repeating myself but Scabies work has to be the most furious and frenetic I have ever heard! Moon-esque you could say! Mint
'1 Of The 2' and 'She's So Messed Up' both play with great power and there is no interference. Two rather loud tracks (!) but sonically they do not suffer at all. Clean and powerful audio from start to finish. Mint-
'I Feel Alright' ends this classic debut album with outstanding audio. As I often say the audio definition is superb for a final track - the playback is raw and dynamic and there is literally no distortion. Live this must have been immense! The end section is just phenomenal - so powerful and again the sound quality is breathtakingly good. Even the quiet close out section has no background. A stunning Mint- version at the very least.
The Cover & Inner Sleeve
The fully laminated cover is in superb condition with hardly any wear. The edges and spine are in superb shape and the corners are so clean also with only tiny 'rubs'. The opening edge is pristine and the front cover is unmarked with just one laminate crease near the bottom right corner and some laminate 'lift' by the spine. 3/4 minor edge creases near the top left corner also. The back cover is stunning and has only has some laminate lift by the spine but I only noticed it when I held the cover at a certain angle under a bright light, it really isn't obvious. This is a stunning example of this iconic cover.
The die-cut paper black inner sleeve is in great condition with no side splits or tears, no marking and only minimal creasing.

Postage & Packaging
I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping. This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage. The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered. Any over-payment will always be refunded.
The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD). An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known. Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing. Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask. Many thanks.
All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection. They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection. I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.
The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each. There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up! Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
