The Doors : L.A. Woman A1 / B1 1st Press

This first pressing plays with superb audio for the vast majority.  As you can see from my audio grading below it is almost like two sides from two different records!  Don't get wrong S1 is still very impressive and there are no clicks or pops but there is some static on 2/3 tracks which by and large does not intrude on the quality of the audio, I have been honest with my grading.  As for S2 well the sonic quality here is absolutely stunning!  The clarity of sound is phenomenal and the depth and warmth of the audio is so impressive.

The embossed DOORS 'cellophane' cover is in great condition with only minimal wear and the yellow inner sleeve has only a couple of minor marks on the reverse side, it is close to perfect.

Visual description

The vinyl is in excellent condition with a strong glossy visual quality and no scratches.  S1 does have a couple of small hairline abrasive areas but they have no affect on the audio.  Aside from that both sides are very clean with only a few faint sleeve removal hairlines.  The Elektra labels are so clean and have no marking and barely any spindle wear

Play grading  

The intro on 'The Changeling' plays very clearly with just some light static and then Morrison's opening vocal plays so well with barely any background.  It continues in the same way and the instrumental section towards the end is stunning, no background at all.  The final vocal is of the same standard with only a little static on the fade out.  This is Ex+ overall.

'Love Her Madly' has only minimal static for the first couple of seconds and thereafter plays with sublime clarity, depth and power.  There is no intrusion and Mint- is deserved here.

'Been Down So Long' has the bare minimum of light static on the intro and from then on plays with a sonic quality that is off the chart!  I heard just one faint tick just as the vocal comes back in after the mid instrumental and then the remainder is 'as new' aside from a little static on the fade out.  Near Mint is a fair assessment of the audio.

The quiet intro on 'Cars Hiss By My Window' has some light static but it isn't really intrusive.  The first vocal is similar and it continues to play very clearly but with some background static here and there.  A quieter track so you would notice it more but there are no clicks or pops .  Ex-

The first few grooves on the classic 'L.A. Woman' have some light static only and and when Scheff's deep bass comes in the audio is superb!  The opening vocal is just as strong and the next instrumental piece is flawless.  It continues in much the same way, the playback is so clean and there are no ticks, clicks or pops.  There is perhaps a touch of distortion on the odd word but it is only minor and does not intrude on the listen.  The quieter section around the 5 minute mark plays with great clarity with only the lightest of static at the end and then the Mojo risin' section plays with tremendous power and barely any distortion.  Perhaps a little more on the final section but nothing intrusive. Some static on the fade out again.  An Ex+ version.

The classic intro on 'L'America' plays so well with only minimal light static at the start and as it builds the audio is fantastic!  There is no intrusion and the playback is so rich and deep.  Morrison's first vocal is equal to that and this standard is kept up as it progresses.  The instrumental section is phenomenal and the final vocal section is 'as new' which pretty applies to the entire track!  The intro is Ex for a few seconds and the rest is Mint for sure.  Such a great track.

'Hyacinth House' plays with real quality from start to finish with no background.  Every vocal and instrumental section play with exceptional audio and Mint is well deserved.

The intro on 'Crawling King Snake' is perfect and the opening vocal is just as impressive.  The mid instrumental is flawless and it continues to play with a sonic quality that is second to none.  S1 is strong but so far S2 is superb!  A couple of barely audible statics and Mint- at the very least.

'The Wasp...' keeps up the standard and play with incredible audio throughout.  Once again there are no ticks, clicks, pops or static and it grades as Mint such is the quality of the audio.

The 'intro' on 'Riders On The Storm' plays with stunning clarity and the first vocal is just as clean.  The sonic quality is so strong here and there are no negatives.  A classic track of course and it does not disappoint - every section plays with exceptional clarity, depth and warmth and there is no sign of any inner groove distortion.  The long instrumental passage is 'as new' and the final vocal / 'storm' exit is equal to that.  This is the definitive version and I cannot emphasise enough just how well it plays.  A STUNNING version and you will not be surprised to hear it grades as Mint

In summary this first pressing plays to a very high standard.  A game of two halves you could say.  Yes there is some static here and there on S1 but rarely is it intrusive and the majority of the side still plays with great quality.  As for S2 - it is absolutely stunning!  The clarity, definition and warmth of the audio is up there with the best I have ever heard and I'm sure the winning bidder will be just as impressed :-)

The Gatefold, Poster & Inner Sleeve

 The die-cut 'cellophane window' cover is in excellent condition with only a little shelf wear.  The top edge has barely any rubbing and the bottom edge has some but not an excessive amount.  The thin spine is in superb shape and the four rounded corners have only minimal rubbing.  The opening edge has hardly any handling wear.  The front cover is unmarked and the central aperture has only light rubbing around the edges.  The cellophane is in perfect condition and DOORS is of course embossed.  The back cover is in superb condition with only a couple of minor faint lines and small creases but it could hardly look any better.  A fine example overall.

The yellow inner sleeve is in great shape with no side splits or tears and only a couple of faint marks on the blank side.  It has next to no creasing.

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
