I'm a long-time audiophile and record collector thinning my substantial personal collection.
This mono Monarch copy of The Doors' first album is very hard to find in good condition. As you can see from the photos the cover is in G+ condition with a lot of rubbing, especially on the back. Under bright light there are a lot of fine scratches that result in varying degrees of surface noise. I've personally play graded this record all the way through. Side one looks bad but actually rates close to what I would consider a VG+ play grade. Most of the surface noise is obscured by the music. It's an enjoyable listen. Side two is a lot worse. I'd rate it VG-. "Back Door Man" plays through well. Unfortunately, there are a substantial number of repetitive pops and crackles evident during "I Looked At You" and "End of the Night. which also has a needle jump near the end on the track. "Take It As It Comes" is much better. Despite a fair number of pops and crackles "The End" is actually not bad with all of the f-bombs this pressing is known for. Note the "Break on Through to the Oher" label misprint that I believe is unique to mono pressings.
This record has been ultrasonically cleaned in TergiKleen solution and then rinsed and vacuumed twice with distilled water on a VPI 16.5 so it's about as clean as it's going to get. The superior fidelity on this pressing is fully evident despite the pops and crackles. If you've never heard it the the 180 gram repress sounds like mud so this is far and away the best way to go if you want a mono pressing.
I've purchased many over-graded LPs on eBay and know just how frustrating that can be. If my records are priced a little higher than others it's because they're worth it in terms of time and aggravation so buy with confidence!
Your record will be shipped in a plastic outer sleeve in a real record mailer, not some cobbled together pieces of cardboard, so you can be sure it will arrive in the condition expected.
