THE DOORS

“STRANGE DAYS”

(DIAS EXTRAÑOS)

WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! MEGARARE and HARD-TO-FIND original Elektra Records very first STEREO press, released by Elektra Records, made and distributed in Chile in 1976 by Asociación Fonográfica Nacional “ASFONA” M.R. (ASFONA Records), with green/black Elektra Records labels, catalog number EKS-74014, with hand etched matrix numbers EKS-74014-A EB-CD in Side A and EKS-74014-A EB-CD in Side B. It’s interesting to notice that in both sides in the deadwax it’s written the date of pressing, “28-4-76” (April 28th of 1975)!!! Yes Sirs, ANOTHER FIND FROM CHILE!!!

“STRANGE DAYS” was originally released in 1967, but we had to wait until 1976 (!!!) to see this great classic rock album released here in Chile and like so many times in that period, we got it with an UNIQUE COVER!!! Yes!!! In Chile the cover is a thin and fragile flipback cover made of two single sheets of heavy paper (or thin cardboard) for front and back covers with front cover pasted on the flips of back cover. Front and back cover keep strictly the original artwork with the ASFONA Records logo at bottom right corner. In back cover the artwork is the same original artwork but in this case it’s only black and white coloured and it’s the Elektra Records logo at bottom right corner with catalog number “1883” and “Serie Especial De Lujo” (Deluxe Serie) written below the word “Stereo”. At left bottom corner is the “El Disco Es Cultura” (Record Is Culture) logo. It’s interesting to notice that in back cover the tracklist is written in Spanish, translated to English, with all the other text in English only and the name of the band “THE DOORS”. In labels the album title, tracklist and credits are written only in Spanish with the name of the band “DOORS”. And in back cover the sides are identified as “Lado 1” (Side 1) and “Lado 2” (Side 2) but in labels they are “A” and “B”. Yes, yes, yes… Here it’s another REAL FIND, another rarity from South America, another UNIQUE press from Chile!!! A MUST TO HAVE!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in VG- or VG condition the front cover back covers, clean and clear, complete, no missing parts, no writings, light ring marks, moderate wear in all edges, more evident in corners, creases, some repaired rips in back cover and tape in all edges which some past owner put there to hide the seam splits but they are worked very well to protect this fragile kind of cover. The record is in VG or VG+ condition both sides, glossy and clean, but with loads of hairlines and scuffs and some light scratches, which don’t affect sound. Labels on both sides are in absolute EX+ or NM- condition, clean and clear, with only minimal spindle wear and a writing in Side B. The sound is the best part, it’s in absolute EX or EX+ condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, no background noise (background noise was normal in most of records pressed in Chile), with only minimal occasional crackles, more evident at the beginning of both sides and in the silent parts, with a pair of soft ticks in “Unhappy Girl” and more evident crackles in “Horse Latitudes”, but most of songs play in NM- or NM condition. Overall a so rare record like this, it has to be A MUST FOR The Doors collectors and fans, not many times seen here in eBay and this time you have the chance to own this MEGARARE PRESS!!! And after about 49 years and many plays this copy still retains a nice look and a very decent and respectable sound quality which shouldn’t disappoint anyone and should satisfy any serious collector who knows the real level of rarity of this Chilean press, LOUD, CLEAR, NO DISTORTIONS, NO JUMPS, NO STICKS. Anyway, if you like Mint copies, this is not for you, that’s a fact, not the best cover and not the best sound quality but no matter the condition this record in this MEGARARE PRESS is an INCREDIBLE FIND FROM CHILE AGAIN!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels and cover in detail. WOW!!!

Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile

_________________________________________________________

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.

IMPORTANT TO READ

  • The records for sale are used and if you know about records then you will already know that they behave differently on different turntables, therefore there is NO GUARANTEE on them, but I do my best to grade them as accurately as possible and every flaw I listen on my turntable it's informed in description.
  • NO RETURNS ACCEPTED.
  • We are not responsible for the damages in transit, when the parcel is given to the postal service, then the care of the parcel and delivery time is out of my control.

  • IF YOU BUY THIS RECORD, YOU ARE ACCEPTING THESE CONDITIONS, SO WE HOPE AND TRUST YOU WILL BE SERIOUS AND HONOR THE ACCEPTANCE OF THESE CONDITIONS.

IMPORTANT UPDATE (September 2024)

Because the UK’s tax authority, Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs (HMRC), requires eBay collect VAT information from sellers with UK customers, I’ve been informed that I need to have a “valid UK VAT number on file” to sell to UK customers. As I live in Chile and all my items are shipped from Chile, I don’t have an “UK VAT number”, so I’m sorry to inform that I’M FORCED TO EXCLUDE THE UK FROM MY WORLDWIDE SHIPPING POLICY. If you live in the UK and you’d like to bid/buy some of my records, please contact me, I’m sure we could find some solution.

If you have some doubt or question, feel free to contact us, we will be glad to answer all that you want to know about this item.
