THE DOORS Soft Parade ORIGINAL US MONO PRESS UNSEEN EKL-5005 INSANELY RARE lp VG
NEVER BEFORE SEEN UNIQUE ODDITY, probably one of the rarest doors items available to collectors. There is no information about this or a even a hint of its existence anywhere.
This is an original US press gatefold of The Soft Parade with a never before seen neon green mono sticker on the top left next to the printed serial number EKS-75005. The disc itself has a near neon yellow label with the serial number EKL-5005, further denoting mono. The label has a weird font for 'The Doors', and along the edge says 'manufactured by mico industries inc in the philippines'. The side 1 etched matrix number in the inner groove area says '11-12-69 EKL-5005-A' followed by the etcher's symbol which looks like a cursive 'p' over a 'z'. Side 2 is the same except it is EKL-5005-B.
My best guess for the story behind this holy grail based on my research: Mico pressed a few of these in the philippines. Elektra shipped over a few US stereo covers with the mono sticker (I have seen similar mono stickers in neon orange on the doors US Debut stereo copy, and Love - Da Capo). Mico put their discs into the covers and shipped them to US soldiers stationed in vietnam in 1969 and 1970 (since this disc was etched/pressed in late november '69, and the US LP was released earlier in june).
This is rare because it has a unique mono mix not available in the US and because there is no documentation of a US mono press and cover with sticker anywhere.

Goldmine Visual Grading:
Both cover and vinyl look VG- to VG; cover has wear and the top seam is split, vinyl has some scattered light marks, nothing feelable. When played it had consistent background hiss, but no overpowering clicks/pops and no skips. It is heavy vinyl, not flimsy, with nice labels with deep groove.
