Description
This is an auction for a rare LP by The Doors, The Doors.
This was released by Elektra records in 1967 and has catalogue number- EKL4007 and is Mono. This is the 1st press with an orange label. Please check the pictures for clarification.
The following is pictured below on supersize.
Condition: The sleeve comes in fine condition. A touch of discolour can be seen in places on the laminated surface, some of which will clean. There is light buffing to the very corners and lastly a few small lamination creases seen under closer examination. Spine & edges Ex, no tears, bends or creases, lamination at mouth fine, no fingering indentations along mouth, complete and graded at VG+.
This comes with its original patents apllied for inner sleeve which has a few light discolour marks, no edge splits or tears.
Both labels are clean, under close examination some spider spindle trails can be seen on each side. The centre hole is fine and shows a mere touch of wear.
Vinyl: Appearance: both sides retain there new shine. Under a very stong light a couple of feather scratches can be seen only. There are also a couple of finger/dirt marks that will clean.
I have play tested this record through both sides and have taken the following notes.
Side 1 starts with a couple of very quiet crackles/pops. This feckling can be heard again in the break between track 1 and 2 and goes into the beginning of track 2. This then goes onto play fine, one or two quiet crackles aside. The music itself plays strong with no distortion, fading or dragging heard whatsoever. There is very little, if any, lessening in sound quality to the music itself and does not suffer from any kind of lessening due to wear.
After playing this I had a good look at what was causing the bits of feckling you do here. There are some small patches of dirt seen under close inspection that are audible when the needle runs over them. I gave this a quick clean with standard record cleaner fluid and it sounded much better, but not clear, a couple of the patches have been somewhat removed after my clean but there still remains some stuck on dirt. I suspect that given a decent clean this will play almost, if not, clear as the feckling heard is certainly not being caused by scratches or wear. Anyway, all that said this side still plays very well with fine quality sound through-out and at no time can these bits of feckling be heard over the music, only at its quietest moments. This side is graded at VG+ and could possibly be upgraded further if marks shifted.
Side 2, This side starts with a few quiet crackles/pops that soon clear. Like side one there is a dirt patch which overlaps track 1 into track 2. Like side one it is audible when the needle passes over it and just like side 1 I have given this a clean which has improved it but not completely cured it as some of the dirt still remains, which gives a consistent quiet crackle on each rotation. This disappears until the end of track 3 when a few quiet crackles can be heard, this then clears again until near the very end of this side when a consistent quiet tick can be heard. There is a feather scratch at the very end of this side that I assume is giving the tick. All that said the music itself plays superbly well, it can be heard clearly at all times well above any feckling, there is no fading or distortion or lessening in sound quality through wear. This side is graded at VG simply down-graded for the feather scratch at the very end of this side which is audible, the dirt marks i'm pretty certain will clean completely.
The current batch of record I am now selling on Ebay, including The Zombies, Doors, Cream, Mayall, Love Sculpture Etc have all come from the same collector. He did look after his vinyl and sleeves but obviously did not play them often as many have dust / dirt marks. Please check the records I am now listing and over the next few days as many may infact turn out to be a fantastic bargain with huge potential to upgrade most of these items when cleaned properly.
This record is graded at a conservative VG and is certainly a worthwhile addition to any collection.
