Description
This copy has been meticulously handled, cleaned, and fully play-tested. It is an absolute archive-quality keeper.
Vinyl Audio Playback (NM / Near Mint):
Sounds absolutely beautiful. Audio delivery is dynamic, crisp, and flawless. The record plays beautifully with only the slightest, completely normal faint background trace noise during dead-silent transitions or between tracks. Zero skips, zero repetitive clicks.
Vinyl Visual Appearance (NM / Near Mint):
The audio grooves are completely pristine, deep black, and hold a brilliant mirror-like gloss. It looks practically unplayed, like it has only been on a platter once or twice.
Note: There are minor superficial handling lines/paper scuffs confined strictly to the dead-wax runout grooves—entirely away from the music, with zero impact on playback.
Jacket & Gatefold (EX to NM):
The gatefold jacket is exceptionally bright, vivid, and clean. Colors are completely saturated with no fading. Interior gatefold panels are pristine. The spine is structurally sharp and flat with perfect, entirely intact crisp lettering. Shows only the absolute faintest hint of shelf handling wear.
Inner Sleeves (NM & EX):
Includes the original printed custom Elektra inner sleeve in beautiful, sharp Near Mint condition. Also includes an added anti-static poly-lined paper inner sleeve (graded EX due to one small, partial seam split, but perfectly functional).
Bonus Protection: Placed inside a brand new crystal-clear outer plastic sleeve for archival preservation.

IDENTIFICATION NUMBERS & MATRIX CODES
For serious collectors, the "dead wax" runout matrix text verifies the precise lineage of this highly praised acoustic master:
• Barcode (UPC):081227986483
Catalog Identifier:R1 519561
Pressing Plant Sticker: "Made in Germany"
Side One Matrix Runout

What these codes mean & Historical Significance:
• BG Sign-off: These initials are hand-etched by the legendary mastering engineer Bernie Grundman. This reissue is widely celebrated by audiophiles because Grundman cut the lacquers under the supervision of original producer Bruce Botnick using the original master analog tapes. It completely bypasses modern digital compression for an organic, wide soundstage.
RH1-74881 Sequences:
This identifies the direct master metal-work project plates commissioned by Rhino Records.
16015 & B 969710 Identifiers:
These tracking numbers reveal the record was pressed at Optimal Media GmbH in Germany, universally recognized as one of the finest precision vinyl production plants in the world, ensuring flat, heavyweight, low-noise pressings.

ALBUM HISTORY & TRACKLISTING
Released in July 1968, Waiting for the Sun was the third studio masterpiece from The Doors and their very first album to capture the #1 spot on the Billboard charts.
While it delivers the signature dark, poetic psych-rock energy the band is famous for, it is also highly regarded for its unique acoustic textures and Spain-influenced flamenco arrangements. The jacket proudly features the complete text to Jim Morrison's unrecorded theatrical tone poem, "The Celebration of the Lizard".
Featured Tracks:
"Hello, I Love You" – The band’s second #1 US smash hit single, powered by an infectious, heavily distorted organ riff.
"Spanish Caravan" – A flamenco-rock masterpiece featuring Robby Krieger’s stunning classical acoustic guitar work.
"Five to One" – A menacing, heavy blues-rock track with an iconic bass line and a wild vocal performance by Jim Morrison.
"The Unknown Soldier" & "Love Street".
