THE DOWNLINERS SECT
"THE COST OF LIVING" / "EVERYTHING I'VE GOT TO GIVE"

7" on the UK original COLUMBIA RECORDS *DEMO* lable DB 8008 from 1966 (a great year for music and fashion in hip swingin' London!)

Based on a skiffle style (a genre which motivated several artists like Pete Townshend, for instance), this was another example of the group's versatility. Where-as they weren't getting so much attention in their homeland, perhaps down to the more successful Kinks and Yardbirds representation of electric blues/pop - they WERE getting a higher regard in Scandinavia. The demand here was such that they were able to cut and release a few tracks that didn't come out in England at all.
Nowadays The Downliners Sect are a respected part of the R'n B Beat boom of the early 1960's, and rightly so.
The flip side of this gem 'Everything I've Got To Give' is strongly reminscent of their previous issue the freakbeat 45 'Glendora'. This was to be their final original UK issue, with just an unsuccessful single by vocalist Don Craine before they became a part of musical history.   



The vinyl grades NEAR MINT condition, FULL shine and no groove-wear.
The lables are NM/VG++ (due to a small name in pen on the flip, and light ringwear)
