Re-issue des 1979 ursprünglich als Privatpressung veröffentlichten Albums "Eyes Of Love", das im Gefängnis von Sträflingen aufgezeichnet wurde. Im Gegensatz zu den Künstlern auf Johnny Cashs At Folsom Prison und anderen vergleichbaren Alben waren die Musiker tatsächlich Häftlinge: Bewohner des Powhatan Correctional Center, 30 Meilen westlich von Richmond gelegen. The Edge Of Daybreak entstand aus der Band Cosmic Conception, einer früheren Gruppe, die schon die Vorteile der Powhatan-Politik genoss und auf Musikinstrumente zugreifen konnte. Der singende Drummer Jamal Jaha Nubi übernahm die Führung, und Cornelius Cade, James Carrington und Harry Coleman füllten den Sound mit Gitarre, Keyboard und Gesang auf. Zusammen mit dem Bassisten McEvoy Robinson orientierten sie sich am Soul-Sound von Bands wie The Isley Brothers, Slave und Earth Wind and Fire.
