GOOD GOOD KING MIDAS / EVERY NIGHT I'M THERE ... 7-inch, 45rpm single by THE EGGMEN. Original Italian pressing on the FIRST label (FR 5027), from 1970. Killer folk funk / hippie Italian prog by an unknown studio group featuring an English vocalist. This is a strange one on an obscure label. All we know for sure is that arranger / writer Jujuy was Aldo Pagani (the man behind the infamous Tullio De Piscopo Fastness / Coagulation 45) and that the First label released Xhol Caravan in Italy and was an offshoot label of Ariston (just like the Victory label that Planetarium recorded under). The psychedelic GOOD GOOD KING MIDAS theme should appeal to those of you into Alan Trajan - Speak To Me Clarissa / People - Glastonbury and other folk funk grails. Uncomped and infectious music with sage like musings cum proto rap intro / congas / super-catchy rhythms and lead vocals / funky trap drums / jazzy horn section and acidic flute solos a la Mirageman. Unconventional sounds for the B-Music / Andy Votel / Jethro Tull / weird folk / counter-culture loving DJ and collector. EVERY NIGHT I'M THERE is a hippie rock / SSW style groove with additional female backing singers. The Eggmen is a clever play on The Eggman, a nickname given by John Lennon to Eric Burden after hearing a story about Burden's girlfriend using a cracked raw egg during a sex act. Lennon also made reference to the Eggman in the Beatles classic, I Am The Walrus. Cool picture sleeve artwork. Rare 45!!!

Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG 

Vinyl is in shiny, strong VG++ condition (closer to M-) with a few hairlines. Light surface noises. Item taken from an unplayed deadstock of records and played once for the recording of the soundclip. The soft card picture sleeve is in strong VG+ condition with light general wear. Ring creasing. Some edge and corner wear. Small split to middle bottom seam. Natural age discoloration and some dirt marks from storage. Rare 45!!!
