The Elves were a rock band from upstate New York. They formed in 1967 as The Electric Elves (which was really a continuation of an earlier act, Ronnie Dio and the Prophets, which featured 4 of the 5 original members of the Electric Elves), releasing one single under that name. By the end of 1968, they dumped the "Electric" part from their name and continued on as the Elves. At the beginning of 1972, guitarist Doug Thaler left the group and the remaining members continued on as ELF.  R.I.P Ronnie James Dio
