“UP AND DOWN” b/w “HEART TROUBLE”


On the rare ORIGINAL UK DEMONSTRATION SAMPLE 45 on DERAM RECORDS DM 106 from Vintage 1966

A collectible band who's albums are excellent - and their early original singles are revered as Mod classics!
Deram is a highly regarded lable among vinyl collectors these days, with a consistent roster and style of artists issued on this label in particular.
This Welsh band surpasses expectations though, and like Timebox on Deram, they were an authentic blue-eyed Mod group who really came up with the goods.
The top side is a punchy beat piece with classic 60's instrumentation, strong - but not commercial enough to make any impression on sales.
The 'b' side of this gem is the big one though, the vocals are outstanding, and actually compares with Mike Patto's on 'Beggin' for confidence and strength of delivery. So - why put it on the flip, where DJ's would never play it, and it remained undiscovered until vinyl hounds like us investigated??
Should this ever have got picked up to be covered, or used in a tv show or commercial - then this rare monster would go through the roof!
Heaven knows copies are gold-dust, as it is.

Vinyl condition is NM-, playing through WONDERFULLY, with NO scuff, or marks.
Lables are EX, clean - no pen, stickers or tears - the punch-out centre has been removed though, probably originally by a DJ (*as this certainly doesn't look or sound anything like a juke-box copy!)

*Juke box 45s can be warped by the heat from the machine and the lights, and are almost always wrecked by an ancient and not-very-hi-fi needle that scraped through such warmed 7"s. You'll notice they will almost always have distorted sound in the loud parts.
