THE FIVE DAY WEEK STRAW PEOPLE 1968 UK SAGA STEREO 1st PSYCH
The Five Day Week Straw People.
1968 England pressed Saga Records stereo LP, STFID 2123.
Earliest heavy duty press with black and silver paper labels.
Vinyl visually fairly clean and bright. Surfaces are glossy but display some scuff marks and light scratches.
Playback is graded very conservatively as G. Plays a little worse than surfaces suggest. Some light to mid-level ticks and background crackle. The frequency of these is just a little too much to prevent a VG minus grade. However, the worst instance is four consecutive mid-level ticks near the beginning of A3. Else the ticks are generally isolated.
The LP still provides a very tolerable listening experience however. The surfaces are underlyingly quiet and the sound is crisp and bright and not distorted. Many areas play very cleanly.
Labels are clean and unmarked.
Original Saga inner sleeve in good order but with some creasing and tanning banding.
External sleeve VG minus. Structurally sound with intact edges, no seam splits of note and spine still intact with legible print. Just a very small and neat split beginning at bottom right corner. Laminated front panel is bright and clean. Matt rear panel somewhat grubby and with heavy ringwear darkening.
