Description
I have been an obsessive collector of vinyl LP's and singles for many years, and from the very first I have always been very careful about the condition of the records I have bought. Once in my posession the records have been well stored and always very carefully handled. If the records have been played at all, it has always been on a good quality hi - fi system, the deck being a Linn LP12 deck with a top of the range arm and cartridge.
As a result, most of the many thousands of items in my collection are in excellent condition or better.
Now, in order to create more space at home, I have decided to cut the collection back to a core of my personal favourite artistes, and to dispose of the remainder. These I intend to list for auction over the coming months.
For auction here is a UK original copy of one of the great legendary 1960's psychedelic LPs, being 'The five day week straw people' album, actually by Guy and David, although often erroneously believed to be eponymously titled. This is on the Saga label, and numbered FID 2123, and was issued in 1968.
There simply 'aint anything to say about this psychedelic, garage recorded, guitar led feast of music, anyone who knows collectable 60's LPs will know of this legendary piece of vinyl. What's more this very rare album is in pretty great condition.
The laminated front cover has minor bumping and creasing, some with a bit of clarifoil lift. It is slightly limp and feathered at the very edge of the opening where the clarifoil stops ( about 2mm from the edge). The rear has some age toning and a few brown spots. One small ink mark approx 1/3 way along the rear top edge, looks to be a very small set of intials, probably from a previous owner. Overall though no major faults at all with the cover.
The unlined inner sleeve is age toned and has a some creasing and one or two small splits at the opening edge. I will be shipping it with a brand new lined inner sleeve as well as this original.
The vinyl is simply great, the best condition I have ever found this album in. I could detect no significant marks at all on its surface and the one or two light lines I could find under strong edgewise lighting are almost certainly from the removal from its unlined inner. Likewise the labels are in fabulous condition, with only one or two spindle hole marks visible and then only on one side of the album. This is a stunner of a copy and it sounds sonically brilliant.
So there it is, a legendary album, and a copy in great collectable condition. I'd rate it being very strict as VG+/EX+.
