THE FORMIDABLE BENNY CARTER – NORGRAN MGN-21 – 10 INCH LP – VG+/EX - DEEP GROOVE - MONO
This Norgran session was recorded on September 18, 1952 and featured Benny Carter on alto, Oscar Peterson on piano, Barney Kessel on guitar, Ray Brown on bass Buddy Rich on drums and strings, arranged and conducted by Joe Glover. SIDE A: SOME OTHER SPRING; THESE THINGS YOU LEFT ME; ‘ROUND ABOUT MIDNIGHT and COCKTAILS FOR TWO. SIDE B: ALONE TOGETHER; BEWITCHED, BOTHERED AND BEWILDERED; ISN’T THAT ROMANTIC and KEY LARGO. This Norgran 10 inch LP is Deep Groove and is MONO.
I have graded this LP as VG+ and the record Jacket as EX for the following reasons. The vinyl on the LP is clean on any marks, except SIDE A, CUT #1. There is a surface mark but it doesn’t interfere with play. Otherwise, it would be M-. There is no wear or marks on either side of the spindle hole. The record jacket I’ve rated, as EX as there are no taped seams. There is some shelf wear on the bottom seam but otherwise, the record jacket is in excellent condition. There is a price tag on the upper left corner and I prefer to leave it there after so many years, as removing it might damage the liner notes.
