Description
Here is an extremely rare and highly sought after UK mono copy of 'Mixed Bag' by The Four Pennies on the original matt black Philips label (BL.7734) from 1966.
This lovely example is easily The Four Pennies' rarest album and indeed one of the rarest albums on the Philips label.
Tapestry of Delights rates the album R3 (Extremely Rare) and states: 'All three of their albums are quite collectable but Mixed Bag is a particularly expensive purchase nowadays. In restrospect they are seen as pioneers of the British folk-rock sound."
This disc has barely been played. Under a halogen light I can see only ONE tiny spindle mark on these unblemished black labels.
Both sides of the vinyl look perfect in natural light while under halogen lighting I can see only one light hairline mark. This lovely thick slab of vinyl lies flat on the turntable and performs perfectly all the way through. It has clearly been hardly played and very well cared for. This disc easily grades EX-.
The colourful front laminated single sleeve featuring a fascinating band photo and pasted-on rear paper panel retains all its original colour and is very presentable indeed. It has a little light creasing, light cornerwear and a tiny spot of damage top right front (just above and between the 'A' and 'G' of 'MIXED BAG' - see photo) but is otherwise very solid, straight, strong and clean and is probably one of the best you are likely to come across these days. This rare sleeve harshly grades VG-.
