THE GODS - TO SAMUEL A SON

Rare and sought after pre-Uriah Heep prog/psych/rock gem in lovely condition

Year/Label : 1969 UK Columbia Label number : SCX 6372 Matrix numbers :  XAX 3954-2, XAX 3955-2 Stampers : 1 G  /  1 G
Very good plus (VG+) condition vinyl (bordering on excellent) - flat and retaining it's original jet black lacquered sheen and in daylight comes across as near perfect, with just a 3cm light, surface only scuff mark on side 1. Closer scrutiny under a bright light reveals a couple of small wispy hairlines on each side along with the very occasional and hardly visible (even under a bright light) paper scuff line. A solid very good plus overall but in reality side 1 is graded as very good plus and side 2 as a solid excellent, so overall about as close to excellent as you can get without quite being excellent! The labels are excellent plus with just three very small and extremely faint spindle trails adjacent to the centre hole on each. Clearly this is a record that has been sparingly played (and the truly excellent sound quality is further testament to that).  Very good plus (VG+) condition front side only laminated Garrod & Lofthouise outer sleeve with firm and unscuffed edges, including the spine where all spine text remains perfectly intact; each corner is a near perfectly defined right angle with barely any rubbing, and the opening edges remain firm with no fraying. There are a few minor blemishes : on the front side just the hint of some very mild ring wear (only visible when the sleeve is held in the right light at the right angle), some very mild surface laminate crinkling towards the right side corners, a small area of vertical laminate lifting adjacent to the spine towards the front left bottom corner, three 1-2cm laminate surface crinkles adjacent and perpendicular to the spine, on the spine itself some very mild age discolouration/browning, and on the reverse side some age/handling/storage light surface marks including a little discolouration next to the opening edge and the occasional laminate crinkle on each of the flipbacks (though the flipbacks themselves remain in great shape). Do take a close look at my photos where I have tried to show these blemishes, albeit minor and not detracting from the fact that for a 56 year old 1st press outer sleeve that is notoriously fragile the overall condition remains pretty impressive!  Truly excellent (EX) stereo sound quality with no sticks, skips, repeats, clicks, or distortion and any background crackle is at an absolute minimum - just a couple of split seconds of very, very light background crackle during a couple of the intermissions. Great tone and clarity throughout with every track a great listen. Such an underrated LP (more psych than prog in my opinion), right up there with the very best.  Comes with very good plus (VG+) condition "MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN" poly-lined inner sleeve with no splits, edge fraying, or discolouration and just some mild creasing towards the corners. Note that I always ship the vinyl in a new plain white inner sleeve in order to protect the original.    Underrated, under the radar, rare, sought after and a great addition to any serious rock vinyl collection.
POSTAGE COSTS :

For the UK £3.64 using Royal Mail tracked 48, ebay "Simple Delivery";

for continental Europe £11 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for,

and for the rest of the world £17 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for.

I do provide posting and packaging discounts for multiple purchases. I make no profit from postage.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.

A bit about myself : I have been collecting UK vinyl for over 55 years from a variety of sources : my own collection, friends and family, car boot and garage sales, door-to-door leaflets, and even through placing an advert in my wife's shop window! My ebay feedback speaks for itself so rest assured that you are buying from a trusted seller and in the very unlikely event that you are unhappy with your purchase just e-mail me and I will sort out the problem. I offer a "no questions asked" refund policy. If you require any further information, including photos, then let me know and I'll do my best to oblige. There is NO RESERVE on this item. Richard
