THE GUESS WHO? / CHAD ALLEN & THE EXPRESSIONS  "Hey Ho (What You do to Me)" M-

1966/Cdn/Quality V-1764….here’s a very nice original pressing of their rare 2nd lp, the thick cover is in solid nice condition with some ring wear at the top on the front, there is some storage soiling and minor aging on the white back, light corner wear, drill hole through the center of the cover, no splits, writing or other problems, a nice solid and sharp looking cover, the vinyl is in M- like new condition, the labels are clean with no wear or spindle marks, there is a drill hole through the labels which have no effect other than cosmetic, a very nice original deep groove mono pressing for your collection!, please check my auctions for other psych, rock, and various lp’s, good luck and thanks for looking!

The Guess Who started out as a local Winnipeg band formed by singer/guitarist Chad Allan in 1960 and initially called Allan and the Silvertones (changed to Chad Allan & the Reflections by 1962). All the band members were born in Winnipeg.

Chad Allan and the Reflections signed with Quality Records in 1962 and released several flop singles before scoring their first hit, a 1965 rendition of Johnny Kidd & the Pirates' "Shakin' All Over" that reached No. 1 in Canada and No. 22 in the U.S. By this time the group had changed names again to Chad Allen & the Expressions after a U.S. group called The Reflections had scored a hit with "Just Like Romeo & Juliet". However, in an attempt to build a mystique around the record, Quality Records credited the single only to "Guess Who?" It was hoped that some listeners might assume the "Guess Who?" identity was deliberately masking several famous performers working under a pseudonym -- given the "beat group" nature of the record, perhaps even members of The Beatles or The Who.

It is debatable as to whether anyone was really fooled by this ruse, or if the record would have been a hit regardless of the artist credit. But the upshot was that, even after Quality Records revealed the band was "really" Chad Allan & The Expressions, disc jockeys still announced the group as Guess Who?, effectively forcing the band to rename themselves. So on their first two albums, the band was credited as both Guess Who? and Chad Allan & The Expressions.

MINT: as stated with no defects

NEAR MINT: as stated near Mint!, or Mint Minus, same thing, very clean with no defect to sound or visual appearance, one scuff or mark may be permitted but it will be mentioned in the description, a near Mint record looks and plays very clean

EXCELLENT: not much below near Mint, may have a delete hole and/or a minor defect or two not visually detracting from the cover, the vinyl will appear shiny and in clean condition with very minor defects not affecting the sound, still very clean and very collectable!

VG++ still a very nice copy with minimal cover wear and/or delete/splits, still visually appealing, the vinyl will retain it's original gloss and can have some minor scuffs/scratches that don't affect play very much

VG+ a little more cover/ring wear and delete, splits etc., the vinyl will still retain much original gloss with a bit more scuffs and/or scratches I may list a very rare or desirable item with a lower grade, I will try to list all defects, both cover and vinyl no matter the condition, I also play grade the records on high end equipment and will give an honest play grade as well as visual grade, considering the number of records I buy on line my grading is very conservative and fair.
