Description
First off, this offering is in average condition as described below and I've only listed it because of its' rarity and potential interest to enthusiasts. Shucks, it starts at 99 pence so you can't go wrong. In mint condition it would be around the £200 mark.
CBS M63552 mono, laminated front sleeve with orange labels and CBS advertising inner sleeve. This is rare because by 1968 most record shops had stopped stocking mono in favour of the perceived superior stereo issues (I blame Pink Floyd).
The sleeve has artwork by the illustrator Roger Dean. It's solid and intact with no rips, writing or sticker tears. But it has laminate creasing and edge and corner wear so is looking tired. I give it 6 out of 10 for condition.
For the inner sleeve it's the original CBS advertising job and has selloptape repair on the front bottom. Say 5 /10 for this. Note the inside of the bag has a textured finish so I'll transport the vinyl in a separate (smoother) sleeve.
The disc itself is of medium weight, flat (no dishing) and retains its' sheen. The orange labels are in clean shape as shown and at the spindle holes show evidence of several plays. On the run-off wax are the stampers A1 and B1 denoting a first pressing. In room daylight the vinyl playing surfaces look fine. Held and angled under the evil and cruel desk lamp I see scuffs, hairlines and a few short light scratches. It looks eminently playable but it ain't super clean if that is what you're after. I'm going to rate it 5 /10 which is around the VG grading in UK record parlance.
As I say, 99p start, free UK postage and generous shipping to RoW.
