THE HEAD SHOP 1969 U.S. EPIC Records LP # BN 26476 light shelfwear / unplayed vinyl with no spindle marks from a record company executive's estate
NEAR MINT-
Head Shop is the best known and one of the last projects masterminded by Milan, an enigmatic music industry professional who produced and performed on a variety of recordings released in the 1960s. This underground New York psychedelic project features soulful vocals, fuzzy bass, distorted lead guitars and an assortment of weird percussion all augmented by unexpected stereo effects.
It has been described as a demented fusion of 69 era heavy psych and 66 era garage punk.
On Revolution it is said the original idea was to mix The Beatles with contemporary classical music (Sch and Mahler)to make new music with a progressive edge. Also included is a melancholy version of Sunny by Bobby Hebb. Hundreds of other cover versions of this song exist. Yet critics have referred toHead Shops renderring as a 'bad acid' version of this perrennial goodtime song.
Jazz guitarist Larry Coryell provids a second guitar solo on I Feel Love Comin' On. That begs the question, was it just a studio session for Coryell?
