THE HOBBITS "DOWN TO MIDDLE EARTH" DECCA DL 74920 1967
This really cool sunshine pop soft psycheelic band was the creation ot Jimmy Curtiss, a very creative song writer. Essentially a studio band from NYC, I have read where N.D.Smart II, ex drummer for the Remains played on this record. Although the single "Daffodil Days" nor the album here made much of a dent in the charts. this has become a classic of Soft Psych...This is straight forward sunshine pop, well arranged melodies and pitch perfect harmonies....the track "Let me Run my Fingers Through your Hair" reminds you of the Beach Boys. "Down to Middle Earth", "Break Away", " Out of my Mind" and "Sunny Day Girl" all feed your wishes for the simple floating sunny afternoons.... This album is at the top of the Heap in this genre of 60s music..
