This book highlights those 'original' instruments imported into Britaion during Hofner's 'golden period' between the late fifties and early seventies - the Clubs, the Congress , Senator, Predident, Committe, Golden Hofner, Verithin, Beatle bass and so on; guitars which formed only a part of Hofner's total production but which were among its most prestigious.
So, a narrow model line and a relatively short period of Hofner's history. But for British music this was an exciting and formative decade or so, and the range of guitars imported from Germany by Selmer of London was so influential as to be dubbed, by more than one commentator, 'The guitars which shaped the sound of British rock'n'roll.
This is a book for those who recall Hofher guitars with affection, or perhaps who simply mourn the loss of a particularly charming era in British popular music.
The artists who kindly agreed to be interviewed for this book (Paul McCartney, David Gilmour, Ritchie Blackmore, Hank Marvin and many more) recall the excitement of those 'Hofner Times' and highlight the influence of this manufacturer over the development of British popular music.
The book was published by International Music Publications (IMP) in 1993 (1st edition isbn 0863599567). The book has laminated boards and is in excellent condition, the book runs to 80 pages and includes numerous b&w and colour photos. This is a scarce book and a must for any Hofner enthusiast.
