Description

THE HOLLIES – EVOLUTION – VINYL 1967

MONO – 1st PRESSING

This is a rare 1967 original UK first pressing of the mono version of Evolution by the Hollies.

The matrix runout numbers etched into the disc are XEX 635-1 and XEX 636-1 which identify this as the very first lacquer cut for the mono release.

I have owned the record from new and can vouch for its safe keeping since 1967. I am a private seller now disposing of my vinyl collection.

The media is in my opinion near mint with no noticeable wear whatsoever, the front-laminated flipback sleeve has pinched spine endings and is excellent+, although there is a tiny patch of pink missing at the top of the rear of the sleeve and the slightest edge wear at the base of the open end. (please see photos 7& 8). The Emitex inner sleeve with EMI promotional messages is complete, but has browned somewhat with age.

I consulted AI and this was the feedback:

“The mono vinyl version of The Hollies' 1967 album Evolution is generally regarded as having more punch, power, and better overall balance than the stereo version. As with many 1967 releases, the mono version was the primary focus of the band and producers, while the stereo version was often a secondary, less-polished mix. Both original UK pressings are highly sought after by collectors, the mono mix is considered superior in sound quality and harder to find.”

The Tracks include:
1. Then The Heartaches Begin
2. Stop Right There
3. Water On The Brain
4. Lullaby To Tim
5. Have You Ever Loved Somebody
6. You Need Love
7. Rain On The Window
8. Heading For A Fall
9. Ye Olde Toffee Shoppe
10. When Your Light's Turned On
11. Leave Me
12. The Games We Play

This an opportunity to obtain a rare collector's item carefully looked after for nearly sixty years..

Please study the photos carefully
