THE IDLE RACE Birthday Party of 12" Vinyl LP 1968 Liberty Very Good Condition
The Birthday Party was the first album by The Idle Race, a psychedelic pop band, released in 1968.
This quasi-concept album was the first to be composed almost entirely of songs by a young Birmingham guitarist/singer named Jeff Lynne. The LP came in a gatefold sleeve, the first of its kind since the Beatles' Sgt Pepper and the Rolling Stones' Their Satanic Majesties Request albums. The inside sleeve art included a mock birthday feast attended by many British Celebrities, including most of the Radio 1 disc jockeys (inlcuding the infamous Jimmy Saville), the Beatles, the Duke of Windsor, actor Warren Mitchell in his role as Alf Garnett, and group leader Jeff Lynne as an eight-year-old schoolboy.
These LPs we have rated as some of the best condition you will ever find. They have come from a private family collector, many of the LPs for sale from this collection have only ever been a handful of times, each. Each album when played, was catalogued; when it was played, which side and how often.
They have NOT been touched or played since 1980. Stored upright in special LP storage cases. Stored in a heated home nearly 40 years. There will of course be the signs of natural ageing of the covers and inner sleeves but the records themselves will be virtually mark free vinyl.
The maybe occasional marks; such as Spindle marks, or wear on some spines of the outer sleeve. Some inner sleeves have a small amount of written pen detail as part of the cataloging process made by the original owner/collector. Please understand & respect this.
Vinyl Condition: Very Good Sleeve: Good with aged related wear signs along edges.
