Description
This is an auction for a rare LP by, The Idle Race, The Birthday Party.
This was released by Liberty Records in 1968 and has catalogue number LBL83132E . This is mono. Please check the pictures for clarification.
Matrix: LBL 83132 A1 LBL 83132 B2
Condition: The gatefold sleeve has a pen mark on the front, a knick at the top of the front, some dirt marks, some of which will clean of the laminated surface. There is also buffing to the corners and bottom edge. Spine fine, centre ex with no discolouring, complete and graded at VG.
This comes with its original 'Patent' inner sleeve which is in fine condition.
Label one has some centre hole picking and a scratch mark running from the very centre hole, must of been placed on a sharpe spindle. In terms of spindle trails, not to many can be seen, with little more than a few on side two. The centre hole does show some signs of wear. Pease check the pictures on supersize for clarification on condition.
The vinyl retains its new shine but does have a couple of visible scratches on side one, also on side one some marks can be seen which have been left by the plastic inner sleeve, these are of course completely non-audible and only seen under the closest of examinations. I have of course test played this through both sides and it really is a story of two halves.
Side 1- At the very beginning of this side, after the first few bars, my needle jumped once, I can not see why this is, no scratch or mark. When reaching the crossover, from track one to track two, a quiet tick is then heard, this continues for perhaps the first 30 seconds or so of this track. Looking at the vinyl a small scratch can be seen running from track one into track two, perhaps a third of the way across track two which is causing the tick. This soon completely clears. At the very beginning of track three one loud tick can be heard. The rest goes on to play just about perfectly, with the occasional, very quiet un-noteworthy crackle just heard.
Side 2- Only took one note and that was that in the crossover from track one to track two, two quiet ticks are heard. That was all I wrote with this side playing very nicely indeed. Again only the very occasional quiet crackle just heard. The music itslef, on both sides, plays with strong and loud audio. Playing with no distortion or fading and not appearing to suffer from much lessening in sound quality due to wear. Because of the one jump I can only grade this at fair, obviously 99 percent of this record plays much better, with no constant feckle or hiss and much of it playing completely clear and infact at a minimum of VG+.
If you can look past the one jump this one is maybe for you, with nice audio and certainly not over-played. Not for the purist and realistically a good gap filler.
