Description

THE INCREDIBLE STRING BAND

incredible string band

Elektra EUK 254 (UK) 1966 MONO

ORIGINAL UK MONO 1966

ROBIN WILLIAMSON   CLIVE PALMER   MIKE HERON

album produced by JOE BOYD

manufactured in Great Britain by Polydor Records Limited, London

STUNNING 1st PRESSING - BY FAR THEIR RAREST LP

hypnotic and haunting! - melancholy and mysterious! - a lovely acid folk psych record - the original that inspired many others such as Dr. Strangely Strange, Tea & Symphony, Forest

YOU WILL NOT FIND  A BETTER EXAMPLE!

RECORD : MINT

the surfaces display stunning jet black gloss - the record plays as-new and mint throughout

note: see photos - this disc is a super example of that ‘just-pressed’ look

LABELS : MINT

except for the faintest evidence of a few spindle traces - these glorious dark orange and black original ‘ridged’ labels are bright, clean and sharp - completely unmarked and perfect

note: eBay picture services may make the rich deep orange colour appear patchy - both labels are in fact superb

SLEEVE : VERY NEAR MINT

fully laminated sleeve with super high gloss front and rear - almost totally as-new - including spine, seams, opening edges, corners - the shine on the lamination must be seen to be appreciated with that beautiful ‘fresh off the press’ appearance

note: any apparent white or pale areas in the photos are merely light refelection from the incredibly glossy finish

INNER BAG : EXCELLENT

original poly-lined paper inner with purple lettering - near mint except for a record shop stamp to the reverse side

Maybe Someday   October Song   When the Music Starts to Play   Schaeffer’s Jig   Womankind   The tree   Whistle Tune   Dandelion Blues

Oh Lord how Happy I am   Empty Pocket Blues   Smoke Shovelling Song   Can’t keep me here no how   Good as Gone   Footsteps of the Heron   Niggertown   Everything’s fine right now

On 22-Apr-04 at 16:56:35 BST, seller added the following information:

I should mention the existence of the white label (with green Elektra logo and track details / credits in black lettering) versions of the 1st pressing - also in mono, of course - thanks to Walter for reminding me - I have always thought of the orange label UK issues as 1st pressings and the red label, then 'butterfly' label copies as reissues - my apologies, then if my listing is, strictly speaking, slightly incorrect - does anyone have photos of the white labels they can email me? - one thing is certain and that is the rarity of this LP in such super condition - thanks for reading this explanatory amendment ~ christophertime
