THE KID ORY STORY Rare 1950's Jazz Music Show on Two AFRTS 16" Radio Transcription Discs

Edward "Kid" Ory (December 25, 1886 – January 23, 1973) was a jazz trombonist and bandleader. He had one of the best-known bands in New Orleans in the 1910s, hiring many of the great jazz musicians of the day, including, cornetists Joe "King" Oliver, Mutt Carey, and Louis Armstrong; and clarinetists Johnny Dodds and Jimmie Noone. He also mentored Benny Goodman, and later Charles Mingus. 


This one hour 1950'S Armed Forces radio show tells the complete story of this amazing Jazz musician through rare early recordings. This show is hosted and narrated by noted Jazz Historian and Record Collector Andy Mansfield and was part of the AFRTS radio series called "America's Popular Music". This is show number 255 in the series.

These two 16" Radio Transcriptions are in Excellent condition with no visible scuffs or scratches. These discs sound great and are still very glossy. They are not warped or chipped and play fine. Each Radio Transcription disc has two 30 minute radio shows, so you get a total of 2 hours of great entertainment from the Golden Age of Radio. The pictures supplied are of the labels of discs being offered.
