KINKS: FACE TO FACE (ORIG RARE VINYL) Here is a fine original UK mono copy of one of the most sought after albums by The Kinks - the superlative 'Face To Face' on the original blushing pink Pye label (NPL 18149) from (would you believe) way back in 1966. With its succession of perfectly crafted sardonically penned songs of social observation, Face To Face is one of The Kinks' greatest accomplishments. The labels on this original slab of vinyl are some of the cleanest I have ever seen on this title. Most copies are played to death but just have a look at my pictures. The vinyl looks lovely too although close inspection when angled to the light shows up the usual light surface marks as well as some light spindle marks; hence a grading of VG is appropriate. But this is a well cared for record, not the usual played-to-death/taken-to-parties slab of vinyl. It also lies perfectly flat on the turntable and plays bright and beautifully, with perfect clarity and very little background noise, even between the tracks. Just check out the sound effects they used on this album, from the old style ringing telephone on Party Line to waves crashing onto the shore on Holiday in Waikiki. The original front laminated flipback sleeve looks fine at first glance but suffers from a little grubbiness on the monochrome rear as well as some serious laminate damage (including laminate loss) practically all along the opening edge while there's a small hardly noticeable pinhole at top dead centre. This is a sturdy enough sleeve, though, and if not one of the best still perfectly serviceable. Good luck then if you are bidding. Any queries - just ask (I don't broadcast your questions).
