Description

THE KINKS. SELF TITLED DEBUT LP IN MONO.

Pressed in England and released on Pye NPL 18096.

Play grades as VG/EX.

Plays very well with no sticks, jumps or evidence of groovewear, despite having quite a few visible scratches on both sides. The most visible scratch, which is on side 1 and runs across most of the first 3 tracks and is of the 'feely' type, DOES sound with a moderate 'click' which is mainly heard in the gap between the first 4 tracks, but at other times just about disappears below the music. Otherwise all marks seem to be non-sounding and there is just a little faint surface crackle between a few tracks.

Side 2 has a little surface noise between a few tracks but otherwise plays really well.

Quite a few spider lines around the spindle holes, so has been played quite a lot.

As stated above when tilted under normal lighting both sides have some visible scratches which are mainly light and not responsive to the touch except that on side 1 [see above].

There is another smaller scratch towards the end of the side which is just responsive to the touch but appears to be non-sounding.

There are other scratches, surface marks, on both sides, which are visible but not responsive to the touch and vary in size from very short to a couple which are about 10 cm. long.

When viewed under halogen lights more marks are visible on both sides but not too many.

Front laminated 3-flipback Garrod & Lofthouse patents pending sleeve grades as EX-.

Has a name blacked out on the top, right rear and a mark, where another name may have been, on the left of the rear, top flipback. There is a small label with an 'E' on the rear, top right corner. The spine is clean, white and all text is fine. There is no edge wear but there are a fe laminate edge cracks and x3 small laminate creases near the opening. There is also a light ring impression on the front.

Plain white inner sleeve grades as EX.

I dispatch records in brand new, bought in mailers designed for the process. Before placing in the mailer I take LPs out of the sleeve place both in a polysleeve and between two card stiffeners and if there is a picture sleeve I place the LP in a plain sleeve to prevent knifing of the picture sleeve. [all this costs £0.80/single LP].

I USE RECORD COLLECTOR GRADINGS AND USE A +/- WHERE I FEEL THAT IT'S APPROPRIATE.

(M) MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as sealed or unplayed should be mint.

(EX) EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of being played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging may have slight wear and/or creasing.

(VG) VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

(G) GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

(F) FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

(P) POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

(B) BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
