Description
Up for purchase is a genuine, 1964 UK true first mono pressing of The Kinks' iconic self-titled debut studio album on the original pink/red Pye Records label.
**True First Pressing Identifiers:**
* **The Matrix Numbers:** Features the earliest stamped deadwax runouts: **NN-1096-A1** (Side 1) and **NN-1096-B2** (Side 2).
* **The Label Details:** Original textured pink Pye labels with "Recording First Published 1964" text and "NPL 18096" monaural catalog numbering.
**Condition Grading & Maintenance (Goldmine Standard):**
* **Media (Vinyl): VG (Very Good **
The vinyl disc retains a beautiful, high-gloss luster and was professionally cleaned on a dedicated wet record cleaning machine just yesterday. Under strong direct light, it displays only a few minor cosmetic surface scuffs and light paper hairlines that do not affect structural play integrity. The vinyl sits completely flat.
* **Labels:** [Please Note] Side 1 is clean. Side 2 has a prominent square sticker tear / surface paper lift on the left side of the spindle hole (clearly documented in the high-resolution listing photos).
* **Sleeve / Jacket: Good (G)**
The original flipback cover shows significant age-related wear. There is a full-width seam split/tear along the bottom edge, along with noticeable creasing and laminate lifting/peeling to the front high-gloss layer. The back cover shows typical handling discoloration but remains entirely legible with a strong spine.
**Shipping & Packaging:**
Shipped via Royal Mail Tracked postage. To ensure the split bottom seam does not worsen or suffer further damage during transit, the vinyl disc will be removed from the outer jacket and inner sleeve, then packed flat inside a heavy-duty cardboard record mailer with double internal stiffeners.
Please inspect all high-resolution photos carefully to judge the physical condition for yourself. Feel free to message me with any questions!
