This is a review copy sent to me at a music magazine where I worked in the 80's & 90's.
This record was played once in order to write the record review and then put into archive, where it has remained untouched for the last 23 years!
Vinyl visually grades EXCELLENT TO NEAR MINT, with no signs of handling or use on side 1, and one minor scuff (not a needle scratch) on side 2, which is the louder side.
Cover grades excellent. Has a scooped promo cut in the upper right hand corner, and a short indented line vertically across the jacket's back cover, as if it was pressed against something like a cd jewel box, in shipment (see pic #7). Corners have minor wear which I have also tried to show in close-up pics.
Chill Out is the third studio album by The KLF, and the first album under the name, released in February 1990. An ambient house concept album, it portrays a mythical night-time journey up the U.S. Gulf Coast from Texas into Louisiana. The album is a continuous composition, in which sampled music (including Elvis Presley, Fleetwood Mac, Acker Bilk and Tuvan throat singers), vocal samples and sound effects are overlaid with original music. Chill Out consists largely of fragmented, heavily reverbed steel guitar, environmental sounds (birds, trains), occasional synth, and an angelic vocal chorus repeating the KLF's own "Justified and Ancient" theme. Throughout, Drummond and Cauty display an instinctive talent for wallpaper music that's truly diverting, making Chill Out one of the essential ambient albums.
