The Leaves were comprised of musicians of ambitious garage rock abilities that exploded on their version of "Hey Joe."  Yes Jimi, I dug your later slowed down version and recognized that the Leaves opening fuzz guitar riff of "Hey Joe" was an inspired, sped up version of the Searchers "Needles and Pins" and the Byrds "I'll Feel A Whole Lot Better,"  but what a remarkable rock awakening this was.  And what great fun listening to it in the detail of the stereo mix of this LP as opposed to the mono mix of AM radio and hearing in definition Jim Pons' terrific bass sound and musicianship and Bobby Arlin's early fuzz guitar masterpiece.

Bassist Jim Pons went on to play with the Turtles and the Mothers of Invention.  Guitarist Bobby Arlin went on to form "The Hook," a terrific hard rock, blues, psychedelic band of the late 60's that I saw play live at the final concert of the Buffalo Springfield.

"War of Distortion" is an intriguing early psychedelia classic with calliope, slide whistle and over-distorted guitar.  "Dr. Stone," comprised of a watershed Bo Diddley riff and a Rolling Stones style harmonica, is pretty cool (and we get to speculate just what's inside the house of Dr. Stone).  "Get Out Of My Life, Woman" core riff is the featured riff the Grateful Dead's "Viola Lee Blues."     

This LP is from my personal collection and I am its original owner.  I handle records with care and play them back on good turntables. 

Before listing this LP, I visually inspected it and moreover, enjoyed it in its entirety with a goal, to the best of my ability; provide a subjective evaluation of its condition as played on my turntable and through my audio system.
