ORIGINAL UK CBS (63416) FIRST *MONO* PRESSING (1968) OF THE LOVE AFFAIR'S DEBUT LP "The Everlasting Love Affair" IN PRACTICALLY UNPLAYED CONDITION DELIVERING SENSATIONAL AUDIO ON MY SYSTEM (AT A VERY LOUD VOLUME!) - FANTASTIC COPY AND INCREDIBLY RARE TO FIND ONE OF THE ORIGINAL MONOS IN SUCH STUNNING CONDITION
PRESSED ON QUALITY HEAVYWEIGHT VINYL WITH THE FIRST ISSUE MATT ORANGE CBS LABELS WHICH ARE GROOVED AND TEXTURED WITH NO *MONO* INDICATION

Love Affair was one of the great, all-too-unheralded pop bands of the late '60s not a million miles in approach from the Small Faces -- and in Steve Ellis they had a soulful front man who was close to the genius of Steve Marriott.
"Everlasting Love" was the big hit, a wonderful slice of music that crossed and recrossed the line between soul and pop, and which still stands proudly after all these years.
But it's far from being the only excellent work here. The covers of "Hush," "Tobacco Road," "Handbags and Gladrags," and "The First Cut Is the Deepest" positively steam, while "Rainbow Valley," although a formulaic retread of the big hit, still has plenty going for it.
Perhaps the big problem for the band was that they were tagged simply as a pop band, so when they attempted to break that mold, they weren't taken seriously which is a shame, as "The Tree," which veers into both psychedelia and prog rock (close neighbours in those days) is an excellent piece of work, and "Once Upon a Season" offers echoes of Traffic.

LABELS: The labels are clean, bright, fresh and unmarked with just a little rubbing around the spindle hole but no evident spindle traces - this copy has seen little, if any play - NEAR MINT
VINYL Visual: Both surfaces retain their original deep, glossy sheen and are practically unmarked - NEAR MINT
VINYL Audio: Sensational audio delivery - crystal clear, warm, rich and detailed sound with a tremendous MONO cut - very impressive indeed. On playback at a loud volume (which is how I always listen to my LPs prior to listing) there are no scratches, no sticks or jumps, no click/pops and no surface noise. This is wonderfully clean pressing which plays perfectly throughout with superb clarity of sound, no discernible groove-wear or distortion (in my opinion it's probably never been played), sounds wonderful and is strictly graded MINT for audio - flawless playback - fantastic LP
SLEEVE: The original front laminated sleeve is in EXCELLENT condition. The front laminated surface has some rubbing/dulling but is clean and unmarked and the unlaminated back also shows some rubbing (please see photos) but otherwise, a beautifully preserved original sleeve, now over 42 years old
