Description
Here's an early 1960s Mandrell family band single, featuring a very young Barbara on steel guitar and vocals, with her parents Irby and Mary and two outside players (not including little sister Louise, who would have been around ten at the time). This copy includes the extremely rare original picture sleeve. Very little about this record has been documented. The group is billed as "The Mandrell's" with an apostrophe on the labels, and without one on the sleeve. The tracks are "Don't Hold Your Breath" and "Pan-Handle Rag." Apparently, Irby Mandrell ran this O-Side Records label out of his music store in the Southern California town of Oceanside, where the family settled after moving from Corpus Christi when Barbara was six. The vinyl is in VG+ condition with a couple of very light surface marks and excellent playback throughout. The picture sleeve is VG with a small tear at the bottom edge, and a sticker stain near the upper right corner. See pics above. The audio linked below comes directly from this copy:
