THE BRILLIANT EXAMPLE OF A LEGENDARY GEM - EVERY DJ and COLLECTOR'S DREAM!!
Wow ow-weeeee!!!!! Up for grabs here is one of the most sought-after, and RAREST of all DAVID BOWIE reecordings!!! "I Pity The Fool" by THE MANISH BOYS was released in March 1965 and represented the second to feature the young 'Davie Jones', as he was then known!!! Bowie was just 18 years old (by a mere two months) when this record came out 47 years ago!!!
Davie Jones had joined The Manish Boys as a lead singer and the songs on this record are true R&B/Blues style performances. The "A" side (made famous by Bobby "Blue" Bland) was penned by Deadric Malone; a fictional name made up for one of the young blues writers/players of the day who hung out around the Houston, Tx. offices of Duke-Peacock. The "B" side was written and credited to Davie Jones (Bowie).
Bowie was not happy with the success of The Manish Boys and his role with them, so never recorded with the group again. Almost immediately after this recording came out, Bowie joined his new group, "The Lower Third". This time he would get recognition; the band was called "David Jones and the Lower Third"!!!
So, bid now to win this gem or, after the auction has ended, you can sit back in your chair and wonder how you managed to let this LEGENDARY MONSTER of a MOD FREAKBEAT RARITY pass you by!!!
Use the Youtube links to hear for yourself just how brilliant "I Pity The Fool" and "Take My Tip" truly are!!!!! These are not taken from this copy, but I can vouch it plays perfectly with no scratches, great condition for a 47 year old vinyl As you'll see from the photo, this is unconditionally guaranteed to be the ORIGINAL 1965 UK 1st DEMO pressing made with a 4-prong pushout centre, which is fully intact and has never been pressed out. A TRULY fantastic double-sider, any fan of David Bowie, the Mod and Freakbeat scenes or 60s music in general will simply have to have this item in their collection!!!! Grade (labels): The classic white DEMO labels with large red A are in SUPERB condition; there is NO wear and just a couple of tiny and feint marks!!! Grade (vinyl): Incredibly superb and strictly graded at EXCELLENT ++++. Just a couple of non-sounding curved surface lines which do not effect the sound. The images shown above, show reflections, these are in no way on the records themselves. Good luck in finding another one of these nuggets......... they just do NOT turn up in this TREMENDOUS shape!!!! Grade (company bag): Period-correct green with white print, reverse carries period adverts, slight 'light' damage but no tears or rips. Why buy?: This is an absolute LEGENDARY MONSTER of a MOD FREAKBEAT disc and always so incredibly sought-after!! Truly a KILLINGLY RARE 45 and ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND in ANY condition, don't miss this incredible example as it might be your only chance to buy an ORIGINAL 1965 UK 1st DEMO pressing of "I Pity The Fool" by The Manish Boys in magnificent EXCELLENT ++++ condition!!!
