Description
This single was originally recorded for Cosmic label in the US in 1958, this is the Australian release on Leedon from the same year. The Leedon record label was started in Australia by US entrepreneur Lee Gordon in 1958 and in the 1950's released many classic Australian rockers, among them Johnny O'Keefe, Johnny Rebb, Lonnie Lee and The Delltones, as well as selected releases from the US, including Duanne Eddy's "Rebel Rouser", and Dion and the Belmonts' "I Wonder Why". This was one of those selected releases, it is also the VERY FIRST single released on the label. The songs on both sides have a very similar feel to Danny and the Juniors "At the Hop", with the vocal group being backed by a strong rocking piano. (both of these songs have audio clips on you tube if you want to hear what they sound like). The vinyl on both sides is clean and shiny, but there are some hairline scratches and some minor scuffs. Both sides play LOUD and clear, there is some low level surface noise on the run in tracks, masked when the music starts, and both labels are clean, no writing or stickers I have graded the vinyl VG- mainly because of the scuffs not because of the sound. The cover is a new plain white sleeve(VG). This is a rare Australian release and also has significance being the first release on the Leedon label.
