Description
The Best Of The Mighty Turbines issued on the Turbine Steel label out of Falmouth P.O. Jamaica. This is a scarce local Jamaican pressing featuring steel band driven arrangements blending reggae, calypso and Caribbean folk standards.
Unlike mass exported tourist steel band albums, this pressing carries the Turbine Steel imprint and Jamaican address on the label, pointing to a smaller regional production run. Records from independent Jamaican labels of this era were typically pressed in limited quantities and distributed locally, which significantly increases collector scarcity today.
Musically this album bridges traditional steel orchestra sound with roots era reggae energy. Tracks such as Identity, Jah Power, Mount Zion and Sugar Bump lean into reggae and island rhythm territory, while Maryan, Island In The Sun, Yellow Bird and Jamaica Farewell highlight calypso and Caribbean standard influences. This crossover appeal makes it desirable for reggae collectors, Caribbean vinyl enthusiasts and DJs digging for authentic island steel band textures.
