inter den "Milchtütenkindern" steht ein Duo aus Los Angeles. Kenneth Pattengale und Joey Ryan legen mit "The Ash & Clay" ihr Debüt für das Label Anti vor. Es ist der erste Höhepunkt einer kurzen, aber sehr turbulenten Karriere, die das Folk-Pop-Duo binnen eines Jahres landesweit bekannt machte. 2011 gegründet, haben die Milk Carton Kids bereits zusammen mit den Lumineers, Old Crow Medicine Show, Punch Brothers und KD Lang gespielt. Die "New York Times" hörte "Harmoniegesang in brillanten Variationen, teils Simon And Garfunkel, teils Everly Brothers, mit gelegentlichen akustischen Fingerfertigkeiten." Ihre 2011 veröffentlichten ersten beiden Alben, die gratis im Netz stehen, wurden über 110.000-mal heruntergeladen, die Pressereaktionen waren der Art, wie sie nur bekannten Künstlern zu Teil werden.
