THE MODS

Lots of Dutch beat collector are looking for the 2 singles of The Mods from Utrecht, real freakbeatkillers and nowadays impossible to find. The band started out in 1964 as Bob Mount & the Rocking Strings but soon changed their name to the Mods, not to be confused with the band from Nijmegen with the same name who recorded “Land of 1.000 dances”. In june 1965 they performed for the Vara Radio and went to Germany for a couple of weeks. The band played songs from The Motions, Kinks, Stones, Animals, Pretty Things, Them, NO Beatles and a few songs of their own which didn’t last very long on their repertoire. 1966 was the top year of The Mods, playing week in, week out in all the famous clubs and even went to France for a small gig in the neighbourhood of Lille. March 1967 they recorded 2 tracks with black singer Ronny Grant in the famous GTB studios in The Hague but the single was never released.
