Description
This is a 10" acetate record of the 1969 Monkee's single "A Man Without A Dream". The record label is marked RCA Victor Reference Recording, Speed:45 and Mono. The sleeve is marked "Transco Products Corp. 609 W. Elizabeth Ave., Linden N.J. 07036 Manufacturers of Master Recording Blanks". The pressing is in VG+ condition. There are some visible scratches but it plays well on the turntable.
Acetates are the prototypes and test models of a recording. Before a record is mass produced, it is tested to see if it meets both artistic and technical approval. Reference disks are referred to as "acetates" because the coating is composed of cellulose acetate.
