Hey, hey Monkees fans! Here's the record that ended the band's association with Don Kirshner. Released only in Canada, this 45 features The Monkees doing "A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You" b/w "She Hangs Out." Davy takes the lead vocal on both tracks. It was slated to be Colgems 66-1003. The A-side eventually found its way on the next Monkees single (Colgems 66-1004). The B-side was never released, and made its official appearance several years ago on the Rhino compilation series, "Missing Links." The Monkees re-recorded it and used the much funkier version for their LP "Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones, Ltd." In 1967, the Monkees made a deal with Don Kirshner that allowed them to have control of 50% of their records—meaning that they were allowed to choose one side, and Don the other. While the Monkees were gearing up to become a real rock 'n' roll band, recording (among other things) what they thought was to be their next single ("The Girl That I Knew Somewhere"), Don Kirshner coaxed Davy into the studio to cut the two sides he had promised for Jeff Barry and Neil Diamond. He quickly dispatched the "A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You" & "She Hangs Out" which appeared both as a promo under the self-serving name "My Favorite Monkee: Davy Jones Sings" (alluding to his privileging of Davy as the only bankable talent in the band), nd as a Canadian single. This was in violation of the agreement he had made with Screen Gems.

Record is in EX- condition. Some small writing on the labels, but otherwise no stickers, tears or wear. Vinyl is nice.
