THE MOROCCOS
Original issue rarity
The Moroccos were a cool group from Englewood, on the south side of Chicago. Originaly called The Four Chimes, they were first signed up by United Records in late 1954 and at the time were George Kemp (baritone), Ralph Vernon (tenor), Melvin Morrow (tenor), and Fred Martin (bass).
After a failed first session, they added a fifth member, ex-Flamingos lead singer Sollie McElroy. With such a monumental change, they needed a new name, and became The Moroccos.
THIS SINGLE was their third single for United and pairs up the songs "Bang Goes My Heart” and the ballad “What Is A Teenager’s Prayer.” That's Solly McElroy on the lead vocal here. It’s from September of 1956.
CONDITION: VG with a flurry of light marks and small scratches and dings in the labels. Still – a very playable and rare single.
