THE MOTHERS OF INVENTION - WE'RE ONLY IN IT FOR THE MONEY
A truly excellent condition copy of this 1972 Mothers Of Invention / Frank Zappa "avantgarde"/rock gem (I use that music genre categorisation loosely!),
The identifiers that make this the rarer 1972 UK uncensored re-press are : the cover contains censored lyrics but the vinyl lyrics are only partially censored, lamination on the outside of the gatefold only (not on the inside), the Sgt Pepper parody features on the inside of the gatefold and not on the outside (as was the case with later pressings and how it was originally intended), the gatefold sleeve was printed by the E.J. Day group - other UK releases were printed by Howards Printers, the group are wearing dresses on the outside of the gatefold, Track B4 is titled "It's His Voice On The Radio" on the sleeve, but is correctly credited on label, and the following text is contained on the inside of the gatefold : "All the music heard on this album was composed, arranged & scientifically mutilated (with the exception of a little bit of surf music). None of the sounds are generated electronically... they are all the product of electronically altering the sounds of normal instruments" and "The present day composer refuses to die!".

1972 UK pressing with excellent (EX) condition vinyl : each side gleams and has retained a jet black sheen...to be precise Side 1 has no discernible marks at all and I would grade as excellent plus, and Side 2 has just a few very small and extremely faint surface scuffs, only detectable with close scrutiny under a bright light, so I would grade as a straightforward excellent - clearly, this record has been barely played; near mint (NM) condition labels...pristine in fact, and I am unable to detect even one or two of the usual faint spindle trails; excellent (EX) condition and rarer E.J. Day outer gatefold sleeve with all colours, art work, and text remaining in vibrant, rich, and condition with perfect definition....the outside of the gatefold is laminated and there are a few non-obvious 1-2cm laminate creases adjacent and perpendicular to the spine on both the front and reverse sides, along with some light and very fine score marks towards the bottom edge on the reverse side (see photo). These blemishes are trivial and with firm unscuffed edges (including the spine), no corner rubbing and the "Sgt Pepper" parody on the inside of the gatefold in near perfect condition, the overall condition of this 50 year old gatefold remains nothing less than highly impressive. Outstanding STEREO audio quality with no clicks, interference, distortion or background crackle (perhaps just the merest hint of some very faint background crackle during the side 2 dead wax run-in, but this dissipates to nothing by the time the music starts!)...just great tone and clarity throughout. Comes with original poly-lined inner sleeve, again in great condition with no seam splits, no age disclouration and barely any creasing.
An outrageous Zappa/Mothers LP - the gatefold cover alone merits this as a "must" for any serious rock vinyl collection!! POSTAGE COSTS :

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
