Amazing !!! An unbelievable piece: What we have here is an unheard-of TEST PRESSING of this classic slice of British psychedelia. While many test pressings often have alternate or demo- versions of known, later released songs, and while it is possible that this particular test pressing contains demo or alternate versions of some of the tracks, please don’t take our word that it does:

PLEASE NOTE: THIS TEST PRESSING APPARENTLY NEVER HAD A CUSTOM COVER;  THE ALBUM WILL BE SHIPPED IN A PLAIN, GENERIC [WHITE] CARDBOARD COVER. TEST PRESSINGS ARE RARELY – IF EVER – FOUND IN CUSTOM (STOCK) COVERS.

Today you can find anything in mere seconds on the internet, but there was a time when the only people—in America, at least—who had any clue about the psychedelic pop greatness of The Move were either in their 40s or spent a lot of time in used record bins. The band wasn't written about much in The States and the few CDs available were imports. The Move were a secret of the used vinyl cult. A treasure of the musty bins. They made that gross film—decades of microbes—that you can feel on your hands when you've been flipping through old LPs for an hour worth it.

Some pretty cool people like The Move. Rick Nielsen likes The Move (you know him from Cheap Trick). Ron Mael likes The Move (you know him from Sparks). And I like The Move (you know me from The Guinness Book of World Records where I'm listed for most time spent trying unsuccessfully to open up one of those little plastic bags in the supermarket produce section).

This album is bloated almost beyond belief, but, if you ask me, it works. It's one of the things that makes this a cult classic. Me, I'm about as big a simpleton as you can find when it comes to music—I'm practically an un-evolved caveman, give me a pop hook and I'm happy—and even I enjoy the ten-minute swirl of "Fields of People". That's because, to me, The Move's epics don't sound like epics. The band still sound like clowns. They take what art-rockers such as The Nice were doing at the time and twist it into something frothy and melodic. I lose myself in this album. I get drunk on this album. I don't even notice that half the songs—there are six tracks total here—are over seven minutes long. They're throwing out pretty colors and I'm just watching them sparkle against the sky.

This is a sentimental favorite. It's one of the earliest records that I plucked from the used vinyl bins in my 1990s youth and I got hooked on it. Put it on now and I get hooked again. Five stars, nerds.

(EXCERPT FROM AN ANONYMOUS ONLINE REVIEW)

The single most accomplished album to be recorded by any of the Birmingham rock bands (which include the Moody Blues), Shazam is sort of Sgt. Pepper with an attitude, a mixture of expansive progressive rock worthy of the Beatles and high-energy music honed by years of playing loud on-stage. The rendition of Tom Paxton's "The Last Thing on My Mind" pushes these guys simultaneously into Byrds and Jimi Hendrix territory, while "Beautiful Daughter" is one of the most unabashedly pretty records of this era, and "Cherry Blossom Clinic Revisited" is defiantly strange.

·       CONDITION:

·       THE RECORD

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS STRONG VG++. A few light abrasions  ARE VISIBLE, but they appear fairly  insignificant relative to the overall condition of the vinyl, and are only moderately visually distracting. For most part, the vinyl looks impeccable, without any MAJOR visual flaws or imperfections. Much of the original luster is intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)            The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

COVER : This reference pressing comes without any custom jacket, and will be shipped in its original plain, generic, white cardboard cover (NOT GRADED SEPARATELY, BUT IN A NICE CONDITION OVERALL)
