'ONLY THE END OF THE BEGINNING'
SOHO - HOHO 001

Famous for being the first band of one Shane Macgowan founder, writer, singer and professional lush of The Pogues AND Shanne Bradley founder of The Men They Couldn't Hang. Initially called The Nipple Erectors they stalked the pub circuit between 78 and 81 supporting the great and the good from The Jam (Paul Weller producing one of their singles) to The Purple Hearts and finally calling it a day after the release of this - their only LP. Recorded live in 1980 at Wolverhampton Poly, whilst supporting The Purple Hearts, and released the same. It is a document of their set and sound at that time.

This is a first issue from 1980 and bought by me from Small Wonder Records in Walthamstow back in the day. There were a number of different versions pressed - all had white labels - some with no stamp which are often incorrectly termed test pressing or white label, some with a red stamp both sides, some with a black stamp (like this one) and some with blue. All the covers are plain white card however they all came with a black and white insert which some had been stuck onto the front (like this one). Also some of those that hadn't had the insert stuck to the front had instead the  'The Nips' and 'Fourteen Yob Classics' stamped on it! Anyway suffice to say this is the real deal.

There is also an unofficial 2001 pressing with the same cat no but has a printed sleeve and labels.

The vinyl is in excellent even near mint condition as I hardly played it however I just have and it plays brilliantly. The cover is excellent plus and would've been near mint except it's white!

This is a fantastic copy of this rare and hard to find LP.

Despatch will be made within five days of full payment received and cleared, this is because I work 12hr shifts and sometimes cannot get to a Post Office. Non-payers will be dealt with in the usual way.

My prices are based on this item weighing 600gm fully packed. For UK the item will be sent by 2nd class post.
For Overseas purchasers the item will be sent by Airmail Small Packet the cost is:-

Returns:-

If unsatisfied you may return the item within seven days of receipt for a full refund less the cost of postage. Refund will be given once the item has been received and checked. In the event of non-delivery a refund will be issued once the Royal Mail have investigated and refunded me.

Record Collector Magazine's Grading Guide:

"MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler."
As well as the above grades, Near Mint is often used as well; this is really for a record that appears new but is known to have been played because the label has light spindle marks or because it has come from a previous owner and is assumed to have been played by them. For records which appear to fall between the accepted grades, + and - are also often added to the grading.
