The Numbers – Sunset Strip 7” (orig. Australia “The ABLE LABEL” STEREO AB 003, with picture cover & newspaper clipping)

Release date: September 1978.  Recording date: 4th July 1978.

 

On offer here is an EXTREMELY RARE original issue of the first release (independent 3-track 7”) by THE NUMBERS, who later renamed themselves THE RIPTIDES.  The recordings contained within these grooves are POWER-POP of the highest order from BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA!

This particular copy also comes with a bonus ORIGINAL NEWSPAPER CLIPPING from the Brisbane TELEGRAPH (October 1978) featuring ABLE LABEL acts, THE GO-BETWEENS and THE NUMBERS.

VG+ matt finish with a shiny appearance: light ring-wear (inner rim), minor creasing (along opening edge, more noticeable on back / front: top-right & bottom-right corners / back: bottom-right corner), scuffing (insignificant on spine & top seam, moderate on bottom seam), NO SEAM SPLITS, surface rubbing, minor spot stains.  PLEASE VIEW THE HIGH RESOLUTION SCANNED IMAGES CLOSELY!!

Record:              

visual: beautiful glossy sheen—insignificant hairlines & few light surface scuffs on side 2 only (side 1: VG++ / side 2: VG+).

audible: EX sounds superb overall despite some insignificant underlying surface noise.  A HIGHLY ENJOYABLE LISTENING EXPERIENCE!

labels: HARDLY ANY SPINDLE WEAR.
